DIGITAL SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT. DESCRIPTION:
A digital sustainability consultant focuses on helping companies minimize their environmental impact through sustainable practices in their information technology (IT) infrastructure. They evaluate and optimize resource use, implement energy-efficient solutions, and promote sustainability in digital processes.
ACTIVITIES PERFORMED
- Analyzes the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, data centers, and energy consumption, to determine the carbon footprint being generated.
- Develops sustainable strategies to reduce energy and resource consumption by implementing cleaner and more efficient technologies.
- Resource optimization: proposes solutions such as server virtualization, cloud migration, and the use of renewable energies to reduce environmental impact.
- Includes practices in software development, such as optimizing code to make applications more efficient and consume fewer resources.
- Trains and raises awareness among all staff on these sustainable practices in the use of technology, promoting a culture of environmental responsibility.
- Monitors and reports on each metric to measure sustainability progress and generates reports showing improvements in the digital carbon footprint.
- Compliance with regulations: ensuring that the company meets applicable environmental regulations and standards is a fundamental part of the role.

Skills or Studies Required:
- Academic background: Environmental sciences, environmental engineering, information technology, business administration with a specialization in sustainability.
- Knowledge in IT technologies: virtualization, cloud computing, and data management.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Certifications in sustainability, energy efficiency, or environmental management can be a plus, such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or ISO 14001.
Analytical skills: ability to analyze data and metrics to evaluate sustainability.
